NOTHING TO FEAR, the first film to be produced by former GUNS N ROSES guitarist SLASH under his SLASHER FILMS banner, has been acquired by Anchor Bay Films. The news broke this afternoon via Deadline, with word that Hollywood Artist ANTHONY LEONARDI III (RANGO, THE LONE RANGER) will be making his feature-length directorial debut on the project from scribe Jonathan W.C. Mills.
I know that's a terribly-written headline, but as a non-Football watcher that does enjoy STAR WARS, I was really concerned that people were mistaken when they were spelling TEEBO as ''TEBOW'' on twitter last night. Sadly, they were not discussing the adventures of the Ewok Warrior, but some Football-Throwing Warrior for Christ. Specifically, they were buzzing about JIMMY FALLON, who had just performed as DAVID BOWIE circa Ziggy Stardust mixed with Tebow as ''Tebowie.'' Indeed, Space Oddity just became really odd, as a tribute to the Denver Broncos. Still no love for TEEBO.
Do you remember when William ''The Refrigerator'' Perry from the Chicago Bears became a member of G.I. JOE? I do, and those were some dark times. A football wrapped up in spikes and rigged to a chain like a mace was a bleak reminder of the budget cuts that the Joe's were facing during the Regan Administration. While a lot has transpired over the course of the past quarter-century, the Joe team is still going strong, and occasionally picks up a member from an unlikely source. Hailing from Crystal Lake (Illinois, of course) comes JASON VOORHEES - packed with his signature Machete Weapon! Unfortunately, he's not an action figure - but a rather bad-ass t-shirt from Fright-Rags.
Robert Kurtzman's Creature Corps has just released the 42nd Episode of their ongoing webseries that takes viewers inside the world of special makeup FX for film and television. On this week's episode, the team gives you a look at the gruesome practical FX that was created for HOSTEL: PART III (out now on DVD via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment).
My wife got angry at me for showing her this video last night. It's not particularly ''funny,'' but it's just so unbelievably weird that it has to be seen. What exactly is a PIZZA BOOMERANG? Is it a short film - a Spanish pizza joint - or just some wacky crap? We'll go with the latter, as the following video shows a HE-MAN via Weird Al sorta guy taking a peek at Earth from a very Eternia-like planet as he prepares a Pizza Boomerang. What can it do? Well, some of it borders on NSFW territory, but the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE probably aren't going to like this.
Cinema buffs and fans of Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi opus BLADE RUNNER might be excited to view a 1982 Sketchbook from the film that has now surfaced online. The long-out-of-print book was originally published by Blue Dolphin Enterprises in June of 1982, and features a look inside the production design through artwork by Syd Mead, Mentor Huebner, Charles Knode, Michael Kaplan, and Ridley Scott.
