ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL, the world’s largest touring heavy music festival is back for its fifth year, and the lineup is arguably it's best yet. The mighty SLIPKNOT will headline, followed by SLAYER, and a ''major special guest'' TBA on March 5th.
The mighty EVERLAST is about to hit the road in support of his recent release SONGS OF THE UNGRATEFUL LIVING, but unfortunately he's going out with SUBLIME WITH ROME. Aside from sounding like a mixed drink now, can they just go away? Bands get new frontmen all the time, so the fact that they ''legally'' have to call themselves ''Sublime with Rome'' bothers me to. Fuck the system. They're just SUBLIME, but they fuckin' suck now anyway. Go see EVERLAST, though!
American Capitalism will be heading to the Great White North this spring. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH has announced they will tour Canada as well as the Western US beginning this March, with legendary SOULFLY as support, as well as WINDOWPANE and PERSIST. 5FDP will headline Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and more, while also playing a special Las Vegas hometown show alongside other western-US markets.
After some major rescheduling prompted by frontman Anthony Kiedis' foot injuries and subsequent surgery, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS have confirmed to Kik Axe Music™ that their I'M WITH YOU World Tour will now kick off on March 29th. In addition to the previously announced dates, new stops have been announced, with more promised to be added in the weeks ahead. Check out all the latest confirmed dates below.
ANDREW W.K., is about to bring the party back. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of his breakthrough album I GET WET, Andrew and his band will hit the road to perform the entire album from front to back. The tour looks to be fairly widespread, with a four-night run at SXSW on the slate as well. Check out the dates below. I'm excited - how about you?

There's a lot of imagery that comes to mind when people mention GODSMACK. DUI charges; Trailer Parks; Confederate Flags; Walmart; Mullets; Farm & Fleet; Alice in Chains ripoffs; White Trash; Teen Mom; 16 and Pregnant; Methlabs; Herpes; Radio Rock; Domestic Abuse; AIDS; Sarah Palin; Newt Gingrich; Jailhouse green-ink tattoos; Deadbeat Dads; scum of the earth; Dago tees... and that's just off the top. Unfortunately, by associating those things with GODSMACK, I'm actually doing them a disservice. GODSMACK is much worse.
I learned something the other night. I learned that my suspicions were correct, and that the most hardcore of RADIOHEAD fans are a humorless, tightly-wound, bunch of angry wankers. This was made crystal clear after posting a joking comment - specifically my oft-used line about the band ceasing to exist post-THE BENDS (1995) and being replaced by robots - on Facebook. Indeed, some young college student that fancies himself a 'photographer' jumped down my throat and actually had the gall to compare knocking RADIOHEAD to racism against blacks, and the oppression of women pre-60's revolution. I kid you not. The incident took place on a friend's 'wall,'' and prompted the removal of said comment (which also discussed gardening and kitchens).
Reunions are abound as the official lineup announcement for COACHELLA 2012 hit the wires earlier this evening. The six-day festival will attempt to duplicate itself over two consecutive weekends this year (personally, not a fan of the idea) with identical lineups performing on April 13-15 and April 20-22 in Indio, California. While the overall lineup (which I've been critical of in the past) is impressive, it's the crop of reunited bands that have piqued this writer's interest.
I don't know how I missed it, but last April, MINDLESS SELF INDULGENCE reissued their debut album TIGHT in an expanded edition that featured extra tracks and a bonus DVD - they called it TIGHTER. While most people (like myself) never owned that original album, songs from it have been live staples in the band's setlist, and this Spring fans will get a chance to hear them again. The band has just issued the dates for their upcoming North American Tour, and we've got 'em for you below, right here on Kik Axe Music™.
