rango1Earlier this year, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon pictures released a CG film called Rango to the delight and confusion of many. Eschewing the traditional approaches to American CGI pictures, Rango was crammed full of bizarre characters with the ugliest looking faces you could possibly imagine, much like the repulsive mugs stuffed into Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns.

At the head of the strange, miniaturized post-modern frontierscape world was production designer Mark “Crash” McCreery, a longtime coworker of director Gore Verbinski’s who was behind the design of Davy Jones and many other creatures in the Pirates of the Carribean movies. McCreery also has a good fistful of other high profile projects to his name as a designer, including Jurassic Park and AI: Artificial Intelligence.

manofsteelI'm really hoping that the next SUPERMAN film is the finest version of the character that we've ever seen take flight. If not, someone inside Warner Bros needs to be fired. After all, why do they keep telling the same bits of story over and over again, constantly revisiting General Zod - one of the most boring characters within the SUPERMAN universe? Since it's beating a dead horse at this point since we'll never have a straight answer, what we can tell you is that ZOD has been cast yet again for  the Zack Snyder (SUCKER PUNCH, DAWN OF THE DEAD) installment of the big screen franchise.

rareexports100Some months ago I recall seeing a teaser trailer for RARE EXPORTS: A CHRISTMAS TALE, and it looked pretty entertaining. It's played some festivals, has release dates secured for international markets, but there still does not appear to be a U.S. date for the Finnish film. With previous marketing materials taking a modern approach, the filmmakers have gone retro with their latest one-sheet, which looks pretty appealing for this film about the real Santa Claus being found frozen in ice and unthawed to tear some shit up Holiday-style. Check it out below the break along with the latest trailer.
